FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH WELCOMES NEW PASTOR
The congregation of First Lutheran Church of Burbank will welcome its new pastor Michael E. Harnack, a recent graduate of Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, and celebrate his ordination and installation at 4 p.m. July 12.
The public is invited to join in the occasion at the church, 1001 S. Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank.
Presiding over the service will be the Rev. Chuck Pearson of Gethsemane Lutheran Church of La Crescenta. The representative from the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Southwest District will be the Rev. Steven Carlson, district vice president for Region 1.
A native of Orange County, Pastor Harnack and his wife, Dawn, have one daughter Kayli. He plans to focus on programs for youth and in music.
MILITARY PERSONNEL SERVING THE COUNTRY
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Bryan L. Artiles, son of Sharon L. Artiles of Burbank, and Gusatvo L. Artiles of Burbank, recently was promoted to his current rank while serving at Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va.
Artiles is a 2006 graduate of John Burroughs High School, and joined the Navy in April 2007.
Navy Seaman Apprentice Alexandru Sandou, son of Larisa and Valeri Sandou of Burbank, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.
Sandou is a 2008 graduate of John Burroughs High School.
Army Reserve Pvt. Celestine M. Allen has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
Allen is the daughter of Margaret Allen of Burbank.
The private is a 1998 graduate of North Hollywood High School.
