Normally, a thrift shop Maryland Terps sweatshirt wouldn't register on a style scale. But not the way Deanna Collins, 24, assembled it into a fun outfit she wore to an exhibition opening at Gallery CA. "The sweatshirt was my boyfriend's idea. He said, you look good in my sweatshirts. So, he put it on me. And he was right," she says. Of course, the other components this Reservoir Hill resident chose had a little something to do with making the sweatshirt a standout in what she calls her "street smart and thrifty" style. The Twists Locks Love hairstylist and YouTube content creator added a black Forever 21 tube skirt, black DKNY tights from Marshalls and black suede Jeffrey Campbell platform oxfords with cut-out heels. "I got them at Urban Outfitters for $9 on sale, with an extra 50 percent off," she says. Urban Outfitters is also where she found her black leather tote with gold hardware for $39. Her silver crystal Forever 21 teardrop earrings are her go-to's.
