A Burbank police sergeant was reportedly put on paid administrative leave this week, city officials said.

Burbank Police Chief Scott LaChasse confirmed that Sgt. Mike Parrinello, who in the past has served as president of the Burbank Police Officers Assn., was placed on paid administrative leave, though he declined to reveal why.

An administrative investigation is ongoing, LaChasse added.

Claudio Losacco, president of the police union, declined to comment.

The city has fired two police officers in the last year, one of whom was president of the police union at the time.
