For an up close glimpse at roughly 200 cars featured on television shows and in movies, including Scooby-Doo's Mystery Machine and cars seen in "Almost Famous," "Die Another Day" and HBO's "Entourage," head downtown Saturday for the third annual Downtown Burbank Car Classic.

Thousands of people are expected to flock to San Fernando Boulevard between Angeleno Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard for the annual show.

When the Downtown Burbank Partnership, a nonprofit made up of business and property owners, first put on the show three years ago, organizers noticed that a number of the vehicles had a history in film and television, or of celebrity ownership, said Marissa Minor, economic development analyst for the city.

For example, last year's event featured a 1971 De Tomaso Pantera owned by Elvis Presley, fitting for Media City, Minor said.

"We kind of harnessed that and brought it all together," Minor said. "That's what makes our car show different. It's a fun media car show."

This year, cars will include a 1963 Oldsmobile Starfire from "Jersey Boys," a 1961 Volkswagen Beetle from "Herbie: Fully Loaded," a 1965 Lincoln Continental Convertible from HBO's "Entourage," a 2002 Jaguar XKR from "Die Another Day," and a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 from "Almost Famous."

During the day, judges will be roaming the streets choosing winners in six categories — Best in Show, the Burbank Mayor's Award for classic cars, the Jay Leno Award for most unusual vehicle, the best pre- and post-1960 vehicle, and the best preserved vehicle. Awards will be presented at 7 p.m.

Event-goers can expect live music, chalk artists, prizes and giveaways, Minor said.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 3 to 9 p.m.
