Residents can expect street closures near the Empire Center in Burbank as crews continue work on the Golden State (5) Freeway interchange construction project at Empire Avenue, state transportation officials said.

The following closures will take place every day through Friday:

— One lane of the Buena Vista Street offramp of the southbound 5 Freeway may be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., though motorists will be able to use the ramp during the closure.

— From 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., Victory Place will be reduced to one lane north of Empire Avenue, and Empire Avenue at Victory Place will be left turn only;

— Empire Avenue will have one travel lane in each direction at all times, and parking will be restricted on the north side of Empire Avenue;

— the northbound Burbank Boulevard/Walnut Avenue onramp is closed permanently;

— the southbound Scott Road offramp is closed permanently as it will be integrated into the new Empire interchange, which is expected to open in mid-2016;

— the southbound Victory Place/Lincoln Street on-ramp is closed permanently and will also be integrated into the Empire interchange.

The interchange is part of a $355-million project, which includes adding two miles of carpool lanes in each direction between Magnolia Boulevard and Buena Vista Street along the 5 Freeway, reconstructing the Burbank Boulevard overcrossing, and constructing a new interchange at Empire Avenue.
