Burbank Deli & Market, located at 1414 W. Alameda Ave., sold the winning ticket, which had five numbers, minus the Mega number, according to the California Lottery website.
When reached by the phone on Monday, Khimani said the announcement was good exposure for his business.
“I do see some new people stopping by,” he said, adding that he found out about the winning ticket through a customer.
On Tuesday afternoon, lottery officials said the owner of the winning ticket hadn’t come forward, and Khimani said his area lottery representative is checking to see if he will get a cut of the winnings.
While Khimani’s anxious to meet the lucky winner, his excitement is tempered.
“Right now, everything is a question mark to see where that person is, (whether it’s) my regular customer,” he said. “If you look at the apple right now, it looks good, but you can’t tell unless you bite it.”
The numbers drawn were 2, 3, 9, 50, 73, and the Mega number was 12. No one won the $15-million jackpot since no tickets with all six numbers were sold.
