Bob Hope Airport Triennial Full Scale Emergency Exercise

Pyrotechnics simulate a jet crash at Bob Hope Airport during the Triennial Full Scale Emergency Exercise on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.  According to the scenario, the pilot experienced temporary flash blindness caused by laser lights originating from a person on the ground.  The flash blindness caused a hard landing and the aircraft penetrated a fence line and struck multiple construction vehicles.  The impact caused extensive damage to the airplane and resulted in a fuel fire.
