Bellarmine-Jefferson 49, Yeshiva 0: The Guards pulled off a rare feat Thursday in their season opener by recording a shutout in a nonleague game against the Armans.

Jessica Pereyra and Christina Colon paced Bell-Jeff with nine points apiece and Sofia Palacios contributed eight.

The Guards jumped out to a 27-0 lead after the first quarter and held a 41-0 advantage at the half.

Oaks Christian 58, Burroughs 30: Davina Del Castillo had 11 points for the Indians (1-1) Wednesday in a second-round game of the Valencia High Five Classic at Valencia High.

Burroughs 55, Hart 45: The Indians began their season Tuesday with a win in the opening round of the Valencia High Five Classic at Valencia High.

Jakarra Waddell had 11 points, 11 rebounds and eight steals, Alondra Ramirez added 10 points and Davina Del Castillo had 15 rebounds and five steals for Burroughs.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

Providence 39, San Marino 26: The host Pioneers were able to win the defensive struggle Wednesday in a second-round game of the Paul Sutton Tip-Off Classic at Providence.

Providence had a 12-10 lead at halftime in its season-opener.

Agoura 50, Burbank 49: The Bulldogs couldn't hold on to a five-point lead late in the fourth quarter Thursday in losing the pool-play game in their own Burbank Holiday Classic.

Richard Elmoyan paced Burbank (2-1) with 19 points.

Burbank 78, Roosevelt 48: The Bulldogs rolled to a win Wednesday in a pool-play game of its own Burbank Holiday Tournament.

Anthony Kordosh paced Burbank with 19 points, while Richard Elmoyan with 11 points. Twelve players scored for the Bulldogs.

Sierra Canyon 84, Burroughs 40: In its season-opener Tuesday, the Indians suffered a defeat in the opening round of the Simi Valley Tip-Off Classic,

Valencia 97, Burroughs 87: Amaad Wainwright poured in 43 points Wednesday for the Indians (0-2) in a loss in the Simi Valley Tip-Off Classic.

San Marino 2, Burroughs 0: The Indians opened their season Wednesday with a nonleague loss on the road.

Emma Pineiro and Danielle Tilton played well for Burroughs, which was missing some key players.
