BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Burroughs 71, Granada Hills Kennedy 64: The Indians (8-4) got 21 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, three steals and three blocks from Amaad Wainwright on Monday to pick up a victory in the Chaminade Tournament. Rashid Ewing collected 18 points and eight rebounds for Burroughs, which received 12 points from Chris Hovasapian.

In a tournament game Saturday, Wainright and Ewing had 20 points apiece in Burroughs’ 76-58 victory against North Hollywood. Wainwright also collected 15 rebounds, seven assists, six steals and five blocks.

Westminster 51, Burbank 47: Adam Pasco collected 15 points and Anthony Kardosh added 10 for the Bulldogs (6-6) on Monday in a consolation game of the Dicks Sporting Goods Classic at Hope International University in Fullerton.

In another tournament game Saturday, Burbank posted a 68-15 win against Orange at the same venue. Kardosh paced Burbank, which had a 39-11 halftime advantage.

Burbank opened the tournament with a 44-40 loss to Marina and then suffered a 53-51 loss to Beckman. Four of the Bulldogs’ losses have come by three points or less.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Diamond Ranch 55, Burroughs 49: Sidney Ortega notched 18 points and Davina Del Castillo had 11 points, 13 rebounds and six assists Monday for the host Indians (5-6) in a West Coast Holiday Classic contest. The Indians posted an 87-70 tournament win against Frederick Douglass on Friday. Jordan Meltzer had a career-high 21 points to pace the Indians.

Ortega had 15 points, Justine Barraza had 12 points and four rebounds, Jakarra Waddell had 10 points and Del Castillo had six points, 15 rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Bishop Montgomery 49, Burbank 30: The Bulldogs fell Monday in a West Coast Holiday Classic contest. On Friday, Burbank dropped a 46-26 tournament loss against Alemany.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Alemany 2, Burroughs 1: The Indians lost Saturday in the Los Tacos Tournament at the Glendale Sports Complex.
