The storm is expected to hit the West Coast on Thursday and push across Southern California on Friday into the evening, bringing snow and strong winds to the mountains.
Steady rain and snow will turn into showers Friday night in the mountains, the weather service said. Snow levels will average 4,500 feet to 5,500 feet and will likely affect Interstate 5 over the Grapevine during the busy Friday evening commute.
