Burbank police have announced plans to conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday at an undisclosed location.
The checkpoint, which will operate between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m., will check for motorists who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Traffic volume and weather permitting, all vehicles may be checked and drivers who are under the influence will be arrested, police warned.
The Burbank Police Department recently received a $31,500 grant to fund sobriety checkpoints through next September.
In 2011, Burbank police made 403 drunk driving arrests and responded to 89 alcohol-related traffic collisions. As of October this year, 332 motorists were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Police also responded to 81 alcohol-related crashes.
