Emergency crews in Burbank were able to quickly extinguish a “very small” brush fire Wednesday that ignited next to the railroad tracks near Verdugo Avenue and Front Street, authorities said.
The tracks were closed to Metrolink rail traffic for five minutes as firefighters responded to the blaze, which was called in at 1:25 p.m. at 333 Front St., said Burbank Fire Capt. Peter Hendrickson.
The fire, at roughly 100 by 30 yards, consumed mostly brush and tree branches, no structures were ever threatened, he added. The fire was knocked down at 1:44 p.m.
“There’s not a lot there to really burn,” Hendrickson said.
No injuries were reported, and arson investigators were working to determine the cause of the blaze.
