A 37-year-old Lawndale man was arrested Thursday after allegedly bagging items at Marshalls in Burbank, cutting the tags off and attempting to return them at the cashier, police said.
Scott Cunningham allegedly attempted to return two baseball caps and two pairs of shoes at Marshalls – located at 1701 N. Victory Place – after reportedly cutting the tags off while in the store, said Burbank Police Officer Joshua Kendrick.
Police contacted Cunningham as he was leaving and reportedly discovered that the suspect had two driver licenses – one of which was fake – that had reportedly been used for 20 different non-receipt returns at Marshalls or T.J. Maxx stores since December, Kendrick said.
The returns reportedly totaled more than $6,000, Kendrick said.
Cunningham was also allegedly in possession of suspected cocaine.
He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
