A man and woman allegedly attempted to remove copper products from a railroad car in Burbank Saturday afternoon, police said.

Police officers were called to the 600 block of North Victory Boulevard, near West Chandler Boulevard, at around 2:25 p.m., said Burbank Lt. Eddie Ruiz.

A witness reported suspicious activity at a railroad car, and suspects David Gomez, 46, and Alejandra Hernandez, 18, were allegedly observed removing and carrying copper products from it, Ruiz said.

Officers spoke with the suspects, who apparently did not have permission to access the railroad car or remove copper products.

Both Gomez and Hernandez were arrested on suspicion of burglary and booked at the Burbank Police Department Jail. Bail was set at $20,000 for each suspect.
