Police continue to search for a man who robbed a bank in the Loop this week and is suspected in at least three other bank robberies in the area.
No one was hurt during Wednesday robbery, police said. The robber entered the First American Bank at 33 W. Monroe St. around 11:50 a.m. wearing a suit with a white shirt, tie and a baseball cap, according to FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde.
He demanded money and fled east on Monroe after the robbery, according to Hyde.
The FBI said the same man is suspected of robbing the Citibank at 111 W. Jackson Blvd. on Dec. 19, the Citibank at 539 N. Michigan Ave. on Dec. 17 and the Burling Bank at 141 W. Jackson Blvd. on Dec. 5.
He is described as a black man in his 40s, 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11 and over 200 pounds, bald with brown eyes. In one robbery he was described as wearing a gray sweatshirt with a hoodie, blue jeans and a tan baseball cap, the FBI said.
Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said the robber on Wednesday did not show a weapon or imply he had one before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
