    We continue to receive calls from area residents telling us they have received a phone call from someone representing Social Security and/or Medicare. The caller says that new Medicare and/or Social Security cards are being mailed once information about the consumer is verified such as name, address and phone number. After confirming this information, they then say, "Now we just need some information about your bank." Your BBB suggests that should you get this call, quickly hang up. New Medicare and Social Security cards are not being issued. This is a scam whereby the caller is trying to gain your personal information for identity theft.
