In his letter, Mel Wolf says that the Democrats “crafted Obamacare without input or approval by any Republicans.” Actually, the fundamental parts of the ACA were proposed by Republican think-tank the Heritage Foundation, and later adopted and signed into Massachusetts law in 2006 by then-governor, Mitt Romney. The Democrats went with the Republican plan because they knew the plan they wanted — a Medicare single-payer type — would not pass Congress (Google “ACA origins”).
