  1. Pet of the week: Morton

Morton is a mostly white pit bull terrier and Labrador retriever mix. This guy is a sweetie, always giving kisses and showing affection. An active 2-year-old, Morton is full of energy and maintains a playful quality, so he needs a yard and a daily exercise schedule. Additional behavioral training will be a bonus for Morton. He has a beautiful coat that is marked with polka dots, which may be an indication of some Dalmatian DNA. He would be better in a home with older kids. If there are any other dogs in the household, please bring them to the Burbank Animal Shelter to meet Morton. His number is ID#A038045.

  3. Pet of the week: Riley

Riley is an 18-month-old, handsome orange tabby with a quiet personality and a loving nature. He is a former foster kitten who was returned to the Kitten Foster Program when his owners found themselves unable to continue to care for him. Riley’s favorite pastimes are sleeping in the sun and snuggling next to the human members of his foster family. He is also known around his household for his special talent—using his paws to drink water from his dish. Riley could be an only cat or will share space with other cats or even with dogs, as long as they are gentle and like cats. A home without small children would be best for this special guy. To meet Riley, contact his foster parent Cathy at cathy@thevbas.org or (213) 453-4679.

  7. Pet of the week: Gasolina

Gasolina is a spayed brown and black female Dachshund mix. This little girl is a sweet, loving and patient dog. Gasolina gets along well with all kinds of dogs and should be a good match for a family with older children. At 8 years old, she will qualify for the Seniors for Seniors program that allows any Burbank resident 55 or older to adopt a senior pet for a reduced fee. Proof of age and Burbank residency is required at the time of adoption. Gasolina will happily adjust to either an apartment or a house. To meet Gasolina, contact the Burbank Animal Shelter and inquire about ID No. A011035.

  13. Pet of the Week: Percy

Percy is a 2-year-old, neutered male, chocolate Labrador retriever. He loves affection and attention and will do best in a family that can spend time with him and appreciate his active lifestyle. Taking a long walk or going to the dog park is on Percy’s daily calendar. Because of some previous neglect, he currently has a skin condition due to flea allergies. He is as sweet as the word chocolate implies, so don’t let his weathered coat discourage you from giving Percy a look. He should be good with dogs and kids, but a meet and greet with the whole family, including other dogs, should always precede an adoption. To meet Percy, contact the Burbank Animal Shelter and inquire about ID#A037542.
